MAKING AN INVISIBLE

PROBLEM VISIBLE

Project Unsilence is a nationwide initiative with an anti-sexual harassment agenda focused on combating sexual assault and harassment in society.

From breaking the silence to documenting every instance of harassment and abuse to externalising the trauma, Project Unsilence aims to spark a change in how this seemingly invisible problem is being tackled.

THE CURRENT LANDSCAPE

On average, 15 women experience domestic violence every day.

In Malaysia, there has been a 48% increase of reported cases from 2000 till 2016. According to the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO), for every rape case that is reported, nine go unreported.

And to make matters worse, there are no policies in Malaysia to protect single women above the age of 17 from sexual harassment and abuse. For men, such policies are also non-existent.

LET'S CHANGE THAT

OUR GOALS

01.

To give survivors a much-needed voice via a specially designed writing therapy program enhanced with brainwave technology.

02.

To have adequate sexual harassment policies for all Malaysians, regardless of age and gender.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE THERAPY

What if there is a way for survivors to communicate their traumatic stress without saying a word?

With the help of a specially designed communication diagnostics tool, we have created a writing therapy program where survivors can pen down their traumatic experiences without verbalising them. By using writing as a form of healing, we can turn these insidious, invisible problems into visible interpretations.

To help them process their emotions, the program scans, translates and projects their emotions into a compelling piece of art. The result is an abstract representation of the survivor's emotions, reminding us that this problem is not easy to express. This serves as a form of expression when words simply aren't enough.
